Butterflies at Village Green

Mrs. Price’s 2nd graders studied the metamorphosis of butterflies during their life cycle. The second graders were able to observe the changes butterflies go through from the egg to the adult stage and how butterflies develop different structures that help them meet their basic needs in very different ways. Once the butterflies became adults Mrs. Price and her students set them free in the Village Green Garden.

Marching Cobras Earn Superiors at MPA

Fort Pierce Central High School Band Program earned Straight Superiors at the District 13 Marching Band Music Performance Assessment at Jensen Beach High School October 28th, 2023.  Mr. Joshua Daniels is the director of bands and the Marching Cobras. The band staff includes assistant band director Emily Morgan, Percussion Instructor Christopher Ketcham, Winds Tech Derek Nierenberg, and Color Guard Coach Leigh Ann Rutter. Savanna Ridge Elementary’s Fall Math Competition

Savanna Ridge Elementary hosted our Fall Math Competition for grades K-5. Students in each grade level participated in the competition filled with grade-level math skill questions. Students enjoyed competing against their classmates and look forward to our upcoming Spring Math Competition.

Fairlawn’s Turkey Hunt

Second-grade students at Fairlawn Elementary School completed an academics-based turkey escape room prior to the Thanksgiving break.  Students completed a series of tasks, from multi-digit addition to word riddles to help the Turkeys escape being Thanksgiving dinner.  Gobble Gobble.

Oak Hammock K8 School Celebrates Veterans

Veterans at Oak Hammock K8 gathered and shared stories as they enjoyed a continental breakfast from Panera Bread to celebrate Veteran’s Day. Veterans Day is the day set aside to thank and honor those who served honorably in the military. Students and staff Leveled Up Learning and provided Veterans with letters, tokens of appreciation, and accolades throughout the day. The administrators and the entire Osprey Family at OHK8 say “Thank you for your Service”. Happy Veterans Day!

Students Take the Lead at SOMS Student-Led Conference

Southern Oaks Middle School students hosted their parents for a student-led conference night on Thursday, November 16, 2023. Parents were marked present as their students took the lead in instruction. Parents were informed by their children on their subject area performance. Students presented their best work, explained their learning, analyzed their district assessment scores, and discussed with their parents how they planned to improve their academic performance. Before sitting with parents at the student-led conference event, students took weeks to complete a folder for presentation. They collected work from each class for the folder. Central took time to recognize all of our high-achieving academic scholars. Cobra cookies along with candy-filled cookies were enjoyed by honorees. We are proud of our students, their success, and the hard work it takes to be on the honor roll and principal’s honor roll. Way to go Cobras!

SOMS Recognizes Red Ribbon Week

  Ribbon Week, the nation’s largest and longest-running drug-use prevention campaign ran the week of October 23rd to October 31st. Southern Oaks Middle School participated in the drug-free campaign activities every day of the week. Students were glad to leave the school’s dress code behind to don baseball caps, t-shirts, team jerseys, sunglasses, and just about anything neon. Each day had a different dress theme, and posters around campus reminded students of the purpose of Red Ribbon Week. Everyone had fun as a reminder that drug-free is the most fun way to be.

PSLHS Jaguars Prepare Future Southport Cadets

On Monday and Tuesday, November 6th –7th, selected cadets from the Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion’s Raider Team went to Southport Middle School. Leadership and Accountability at Gaines Academy

Some of the 8th graders at SGAET recently had the opportunity to be accountability partners for Ms. LaBare’s class.  They paired up to share their Leadership Portfolios with each other.  Leadership Portfolios are created and maintained by ALL students K-8 at Samuel S. Gaines Academy of Emerging Technologies.  The portfolios are a piece of the Leader in Me program and include each student’s individual goals, tracked data, work samples showing growth, leadership roles, and more.  These students practiced presenting their Leadership Portfolios to each other and provided each other with feedback for improvement.  A big thank you to Ms. LaBare … Read More

Jaguars Pay Respect to Veterans.

On Saturday, November 11th, all cadets from the Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion participated in the Veterans Day ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park to honor veterans who have served and continue to serve our country. Everyone was gathered at 1030hrs (10:30 AM) in formation as they spoke about the history and importance of Veterans Day. The cadets were honored to pay respect to our veterans.

CTE High School Nursing Assistant Students Participate in Skills Lab and Tour at IRSC School of Nursing

CTE high school students from Fort Pierce Central High School, Fort Pierce Westwood Academy, Port St. Lucie High School, and St. Lucie West Centennial High School participated in a School of Nursing Day at Indian River State College.  The high school students are a part of their high school’s Nursing Assistant program at their respective school.  Students participated in a campus tour, simulated wound care lab, IRSC and School of Nursing informational session, and opportunity to view current nursing students in action in the new simulated hospital at the IRSC Pruitt Campus.  Thank you to IRSC’s staff and College of Nursing … Read More

Middle School CTE Students Connects With IRSC Health Science and Nursing Programs

VGE Pumpkin Studies

Kindergartners at Village Green Elementary School learned all about pumpkins through literature, science, math, and even their taste buds! They participated in a pumpkin investigation, read stories about pumpkins, and dissected pumpkins. At the end of the day they were able to enjoy some tasty pumpkin treats!
