Our school is so proud of our partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters and the positive influence and impact that our mentors and tutors project on our students and school community. Helping Students and Families

St. Lucie Public Schools Student Services, Exceptional Student Education, and FDLRS Division recently completed a two-month campaign to support Grace Packs.  With a focus of bringing in food items each Friday during the months of November and December, the Division managed to fill numerous Grace Packs boxes with food item donations that help support families in need each week. This team’s benevolent spirit supports other causes as well. The WPBF First Alert Weather Class Team visited Fairlawn Elementary School. Students benefited from high energy and engaging lessons about weather systems shared by the professional meteorologists at WPBF.

News Anchor Visits F K Sweet Kindergarten

WPEC News Channel 12 Anchor Suzanne Boyd visited Mrs. Melanie Francisco’s kindergarten class at Frances K. Sweet Magnet School. The students made a tree map and asked great questions about Suzanne Boyd’s job.  She read them a book, How Santa Got His Job, and then they drew pictures and discussed what they would like to be when they grow up.

Physicians Immediate Care Makes Donation

Physicians Immediate Care conducted a promotion during the summer months in which they pledged to donate $5 per sports physical conducted at their medical facilities. They raised $555 which the Education Foundation will apply towards the 2017 Teacher Matching Grant Program. Foundation President Thom Jones, Superintendent E. Wayne Gent, and School Board Members accepted the generous donation from Dr. Ken Palestrant, CEO of Physicians Immediate Care and Jeannie Jacobson, Director of Marketing, at a recent Board meeting.    

WBE Ends 2016 With Episodic Reading Event

Weatherbee hosted an episodic reading event on the last day before winter break.  Members from the community, including SLPS District Office employees, St. Lucie County School Board Members, business leaders, St. Lucie County Commissioners, and law enforcement professionals came to Weatherbee to share their love of reading with our Mariners.  Each guest reader visited three classrooms, read a book aloud, and shared how literacy has positively impacted their lives.

The Daughters of the American Revolution

The Jaguar Battalion was cordially invited to The Daughters of the American Revolution’s annual meeting at the PGA Golf Club to present the colors. The color guard was led by Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Jamie Triplett carrying the national flag. Cadet First Sergeant Morgan Emerson carried the state flag while Cadet Major Savannah Cymbal and Cadet Major Kaylee Zuidema stood as their guards. After the color guard, each cadet had the opportunity to talk about what their future plans are after high school. Star Awards

St. Lucie Public Schools celebrates individuals each month for exceptional customer service with the STAR award.  This month’s recipients were from Lakewood Park Elementary and the Finance Department. Mr. Blount, a music instructor at Lakewood Park Elementary School, provides support to the marching band program at Fort Pierce Central High School.  After coaching his aspiring elementary musicians, he devotes hours supporting the older musicians in a voluntary capacity. Bayshore Donates to Toys for Tots

Bayshore Elementary School students and staff members participated in a toy drive for Toys for Tots sponsored by the United States Marine Corps.  Second Grade Teacher Nancy Fallon coordinated the event and was excited to have Bayshore Elementary as a designated drop-off location.  All donated toys will go to local families in need.  Thank you for to our students and staff for your donations.  Pictured, from left to right: Mrs. Silas (Bayshore Assistant Principal), Mrs. Reid (Bayshore Principal) and Mrs. Fallon.
