College Fair

The Port St. Lucie Civic Center hosted the annual College Fair to inform all students and parents about colleges and universities to prepare them for the future. The Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar JROTC volunteered to help the colleges, universities, and community supporters set up and prepare for the the event.

Allapattah Flats K8 Rad Recyclers

Ms. Marino’s RTI group of 2nd graders learned about recycling with Keep Port St. Lucie Beautiful last week by finding and picking up items that could be recycled from their school grounds. Thank you to #KPSLB for lending us the grabbers to be used in this lesson.

St. Lucie Reading Council

President Ilyse Braini, Vice President Nicole Eak, and members of the St. Lucie Reading Council shared the Council’s proclamation at the October School Board meeting.  Promoting the love of literacy, encouraging membership, and celebrating the benefits of life-long learning and reading were included in the message. The audience was all ears as the announcement was made for the school with the highest percentage of Reading Council members! Art In The Capitol

Student artwork from around the district was amazing, and the decision was difficult for the judges.  Artists demonstrated depth, movement, brush strokes, detail, and flow in their work.  Comments from the judges also focused on dynamic contrasts within art selections that included delicacy and boldness, as well as vibrancy and stillness.   Congratulations are extended to all participants.  The following submissions were recognized at the October School Board meeting with the first place winner’s artwork being presented to Representative Larry Lee’s office.  This piece will hang in the State Capitol for the entire Legislative session.   Congratulations to the winners of the … Read More

Dr. Rafael Sanchez, Director of Human Resources for St. Lucie Public Schools, was recognized by Superintendent E. Wayne Gent and School Board Members for his distinguished recognition and receipt of the Capella University Business Leaders Award. Recipients of this leadership honor are stand-outs among their peers as demonstrated by their ambition, academic excellence, and comprehensive understanding of the current business environment. In addition, as a result of earning this distinction, Sanchez has the opportunity to ring the closing bell for NASDAQ in New York City on October 25, 2017.  

Baptiste-Harris Makes A Positive Difference

Jeanne Ziemba, principal of St. Lucie Public School’s Mosaic Digital Academy, was recognized at the October Board meeting for being named as Florida’s Distance Learning Association’s Innovative Leader in Distance Learning: K-12 award recipient. This award is established to recognize excellence and innovation in using technology to enhance teaching and learning. Mosaic Digital Academy is a K-12 virtual school that provides a progressive choice for families, providing expanded curriculum choice for anytime, anywhere learning.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month

National Bullying Prevention Month is a nationwide campaign and is held during the month of October. This campaign unites communities around the world to educate and raise awareness of bullying prevention. Over the years it has grown from an initial week-long event to a worldwide effort with thousands of individuals participating in multiple activities throughout the month. Congressional Gold Medal

Sebastian Suarez was joined by his family and administrators from Lincoln Park Academy as Superintendent E. Wayne Gent and School Board Members recognized him for earning his the Congressional Award Gold Medal.  Established into law in 1979, the Congressional Award was created to honor, encourage, and inspire America’s youth. To earn the Gold Medal, Suarez, a senior, completed 400 hours of Voluntary Public Service, 200 hours of Personal Development, and 200 hours of Physical Fitness.
