St. Lucie Public Schools proudly celebrates its 26 schools that were recently recognized as Five Star Schools in recognition of their community service. The Five Star School Award was created by the Commissioner’s Community Involvement Council and is presented annually to those schools that have shown evidence of exemplary community involvement. Mark Your Calendar for the PSLHS Drive Event

On Saturday April 21, test drive a new Buick and help Port St. Lucie High School (PSLHS) located at 1201 SE Jaguar Lane in Port St. Lucie receive up to $10,000. Garber Buick GMC in Ft. Pierce will have new Buick vehicles at the school for this Test Drive Event from 8:00am-3:00pm.  For each 2-3 minute Test Drive, Buick will donate $10.00.  When the event exceeds 100 test drives, Buick will double the donation to $20.00.  The goal is to reach the maximum donation of $10,000 for the day! FPCHS Culinary Students Support Empty Bowls Benefit

This marks the 11th year for the fundraiser benefiting Treasure Coast Food Bank. Each year, hundreds of area school children create ceramic bowls by hand for the event. Filled with a serving of soup, they symbolize a meager meal and raise awareness and support for those struggling with hunger in the community. For $20, patrons will receive a custom tote and the bowl of their choice filled with fresh, hot soup. Keeping a Finger on the Pulse of Future Healthcare Careers

Over 100 Allied Health Students from SLWCHS, TCHS and FPWHS participated in the Future Healthcare Professionals Conference derived from the Healthcare Roundtable for St. Lucie and Martin Counties. Students had a chance to learn soft skills, financial aid options, task management and overall were able to acquire knowledge on their pathway to becoming a healthcare provider. Students were exposed to vendors from various healthcare industries such as Treasure Coast Hospice, Martin Memorial, Midway Specialty Care, and ABC Medical. Unified Track Meet Brings Student Athletes Together

ST. LUCIE COUNTY, FL – Runners will take their mark on Thursday, March 8, 2018, for this year’s Unified Track Meet scheduled for 3:00 PM. Here, participants with and without intellectual disabilities partner to form teams representing Fort Pierce Central, Fort Pierce Westwood, Port St. Lucie, St. Lucie West Centennial, and Treasure Coast High Schools. Mariposa Elementary’s PreKindergarten Explores the Importance of Paper

In Mrs. C. Bonilla’s PreKindergarten class at Mariposa Elementary, the students discussed many different kinds of paper. This included where paper comes from and what different things we can create with it. The students practiced writing, drawing, cutting, and gluing the paper. Madison Barr wrote, ” Paper comes from trees.” She drew trees to illustrate her sentence. She practiced copying, starting with a capital letter, and left appropriate spaces between the words.
