Louder Than A Bomb Poetry Slam

Fort Pierce Central’s “Poison Pens” spoken word poetry team won Semi Finals in Jason Taylor’s 4th Annual Louder Than a Bomb” poetry slam. As one of the final four winning teams in the state of Florida, they move on to Team finals Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 6:00 pm at Nova Southeastern University. Congratulations!

WPE Odyssey

Congratulations to Windmill Point Elementary’s Odyssey of the Mind Team that competed at the State Competition held at UCF! Their project held 305 pounds! Thank you to Mr. Caroglanian for working with his team! Way to go, Rising Stars!

Lincoln Park Academy Senior Athlete Wins Scholarship

Lincoln Park Academy was recently notified by the FHSAA that Senior Jamya Wiley is one of twelve female finalists for the Florida Dairy Farmers Academic All-State Team. Jamya will attend a banquet in Gainesville on June 11th and be awarded a $1,700.00 scholarship.  The over-all winner will be announced and will receive an additional $4,600.00. Northport Parents, Students and Faculty Celebrate Final Honor Roll of Year!

Northport is so pleased to celebrate our Third Grade Perfect Attendance, B Honor Roll, A Honor Roll and Principal’s Honor Roll. Our teachers and students have worked very hard and have earned this award. Many thanks to our parents who make sure that the classwork and homework is complete, attend parent conferences and make sure that their student is following classroom and school norms. Mrs. Kemp, Mrs. Taylor, Ms. D’Argenio, Ms. Cirjaru, Ms. Claflin and Mrs. Wilson are to be commended for their diligence, patience and kindness working with our children. Many thanks to all who attended this wonderful celebration.

The St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce Foundation congratulates the Young Floridian Scholarship Program Winners for the 2017-2018 academic year. The Young Floridian Award was established in 1988 by General Development Corporation to recognize outstanding seniors for achievement and service to their school and community. Young Floridian awards honor one St. Lucie high school senior in 15 academic or extracurricular disciplines. CREATIVITY AWARDED IN HIGH SCHOOL WRITING CONTEST

Numerous public and private high school students in the four-county area of Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River and Okeechobee counties participated in the Indian River State College Creative Writing Contest. The event is hosted annually by the English/Communications/Modern Languages Department. Contestants entered original short stories, one-act plays and poems for a chance to win scholarships and other awards. Humanitarian STAR Awards

Bill Tomlinson and LaTanya Green came forward at the April School Board Meeting to recognize the humanitarian efforts of the many individuals from the SLPS’s Student Services and Guidance Department teams. Mr. Tomlinson explained that after the incident at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Broward County on February 14, 2018, staff members graciously volunteered their time and effort to assist the students and staff of the high school as they began to return to the school. LPA Studio Art

Students in Ms. Steffens Studio Art classes have been participating in a host of exciting contests, exhibitions and juried shows this school year. Their work has been displayed at the Art Connection in Ft. Pierce, The 3rd Annual Highwaymen Heritage Trail Festival, and the St. Lucie County Fairgrounds.  We were recently notified of several wins in the PSL Drop Savers Poster Contest and are awaiting word on the Doodle4Google contest and the eminent Dali Museum’s Student Surrealist Art Exhibition entries.
