Northport Celebrated Literacy Week Along With Schools Across Florida!

Mrs. Sharrah’s 1st graders enjoyed the last day of Literacy Week reading with flashlights and lollipops ? ? Northport celebrated the joys of literacy all week with many different activities including book chains, storybook snowmen, and buddy reading activities. The love of reading is alive and well at Northport!

Northport Media Center Delights With Valentines!

Northport kindergarten students from Mrs.Ceville’s class, Toore Chester and Abigail Reid, took the very first Valentine picture in the media center Valentine Picture Booth. The little girls were thrilled to take their first Valentine photo together. The picture booth will be open until Valentines Day for pictures with students and teachers as well as parents, grandparents and families. Simply PRECIOUS!

SLPS Medici Project held its first “Rehearsal Clinic” to help prepare students and directors for their upcoming Music Performance Assessments. Hawley Receives Honor

Debbie Hawley, Chairman of the St. Lucie County School Board, was honored at this month’s Chamber of Commerce Ladies Luncheon.  Ms. Hawley is a staunch advocate for children and public education.  As a three-term School Board member, Chief Operating Officer for Big Brothers Big Sisters, and involved community member, she is a catalyst for the acceleration of literacy, expansion of mental health services, and improvements in safety and security. Congratulations, Ms. Hawley!

Northport Welcomes Families and SLPS Superintendent!

A big congratulations goes to the Northstar and Marlin teams for the second nine weeks Honor Roll celebration. There were a record number of Perfect Attendance and Principal’s Honor Roll students for the entire sixth, seventh and eighth grade teams. Creative Arts Academy of St. Lucie Hosts Vero Beach Film Festival Founder

Creative Arts Academy of St. Lucie (CAST) students learned the history of the Vero Beach Film Festival (VBFF) as well as how they may be the next scholarship prize winner. Earlier this month, CAST members were delighted to meet and experience Jerusha Stewart, Founder and Executive Director of the acclaimed VBFF. Rockets Celebrate 100 Days at Palm Pointe

Palm Pointe kindergarten and first grade students came all decked out to celebrate the 100th day of school.  Boys and girls were seen using their walkers and canes to get around school today as they were dressed as 100 year old ladies and gentlemen.  Some of the students took the time to create shirts with 100 items on them.  Wow, are these students creative!   They were all thrilled to celebrate their 100 days of learning thus far.

SLW Centennial Naval Science Instructor at Woodcarvers Presentation

SLW Centennial High School NAVY JROTC‘s own Naval Science Instructor Gunnery Sergeant Rodriguez, USMC (Ret.) participated in the Woodcarvers Purple Heart Cane presentation this weekend on the 26th of January 2019.  He can be seen on the accompanied picture third from the right.  The Woodcarvers Organization presents handmade walking canes to Military Veteran and Active Duty Purple Heart recipients.

Northport Media Center and some of our sixth graders served as hosts to our community partner, Step Up America. John McIntosh spoke to our students about the three branches of Government and understanding the Constitution and Bill of Rights. He reviewed the 1st Amendment which is Freedom of Speech. John also spoke about the importance of service to your community and volunteering. He spoke about the importance of our military and first responders and taking care of each other. Garden Fresh

Mr. Nunez’s 7th grade science class at Manatee Academy created a recipe they like to call “The Kohlrabi Salsa” using fresh ingredients from a garden right outside their classroom! The ingredients include kohlrabi, cilantro, yellow pear tomatoes, and green onion. Way to go!
