Mathletes Compete in Local Olympics

Students from 12 high schools in St. Lucie, Martin and Indian River counties flexed their mathematical muscles in the annual Math Olympics hosted by the Indian River State College Mathematics Department. Participants competed both individually and as teams from Clark Advanced Learning Center, Fort Pierce Westwood, Indian River Charter, Jensen Beach, John Carroll, Lincoln Park Academy, Martin County, Port St. Lucie, St. Edward’s, St. Lucie West Centennial, South Fork and Vero Beach high schools. PSLHS Wins AREA 3 Regional Drill Competition

On Saturday, March 2, 2019, the Port St Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion’s Drill Team competed in its AREA 3 Regional Drill Meet at Jupiter High School. This is the most important drill meet of the season because it determines if the team can advance to the state competition. TCHS Air Force JROTC Bataan Memorial March

Treasure Coast High School AFJROTC completed a 15-mile memorial walk/march on Saturday and Sunday, March 2nd and 3rd. The memorial march, entitled a “Bataan Death March” was done to honor those who survived and those who gave their lives in WWII during the fight for control of the Philippines. . After their surrender on the island of Luzon, the Americans were marched to POW camps hundreds of miles away. Many perished in the march. The AFJROTC unit completed a march from TCHS to Veterans Memorial Park and back to the high school to raise awareness in memorial to our WWII heroes. … Read More

Weatherbee 5th Graders Practice Math Skills at The Diner

Ms. Alyssa Barbieri furnished her 5th grade math students with a diner menu and $20.  They practiced adding and subtracting to the hundredths place by selecting three items within their $20 budget – calculating both the cost of the items and the change they would receive back.  Whether they chose the most expensive items or elected to spend the least amount possible, they had lots of fun while practicing their math skills!
