PSLHS JROTC Participates in American Legion Match

On Saturday March 30, 2019, the Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion’s Marksmanship Team competed at Sebastian River High School in the inaugural American Legion 12th District 3P Air Rifle Match.  Our cadets: Cadet Major Joleen Kalinowski, Cadet Captain Mathew Simmons, Cadet Corporal Emmalyne Lewiston, and Cadet Sergeant First Class Edward Cook competed against 12 other schools from three counties.  The match was to help prepare cadets for the Area 3 South Regional Air Rifle Meet on April 6th at Atlantic Community High School in Delray Beach, FL. Northport K-8 Participates in Relay For Life 2019

Northport K-8 participated in the 2019 Relay For Life recently held at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center this month. Northport is happy to provide community service and to receive the lessons that the students learn about cancer, care, kindness, and empathy. Northport’s team won Best in Show for the Lip Sync contest and participated in the Luminaria Walk and the Road to Recovery. We are so thankful for our entire Relay For Life team for their participation!

Westwood’s Criminal Justice Students Tour Emergency Operations Center

Fort Pierce Westwood High School’s Criminal Justice students toured the St. Lucie County Emergency Operations Center. This tour was hosted by St. Lucie County officials and the St. Lucie County Human Resources Department. Students gained insightful information on potential careers and how to utilize their industry certification starting this summer! Students are excited and looking forward to the many opportunities right here in St. Lucie County. .

PSLHS JROTC 2019 Awards Ceremony

On Wednesday March 28, 2019, Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion attended its 25th Annual Awards Ceremony. Guests from veteran associations collaborated with school staff and presented awards to deserving cadets. Cadets received awards for academic achievement, leadership qualities, and patriotism. Cadets were proud to receive recognition for their hard work. Starting the ceremony was the Color Guard commanded by Cadet Command Sergeant Major Victoria Diaz, accompanied by Cadet Major Joleen Kalinowski, Cadet 1st Lieutenant Lila Meade, and Cadet Sergeant Alex Nangle. Susan Seal Selected to Serve on State Team

The Florida Department of Education selected TCHS Principal Susan Seal to serve on the Level 2 School Principal Performance Assessment Task Development Team.  The purpose of this team is to develop performance tasks aligned to the competencies and skills finalized as part of the Level 2 School Principal Performance Assessment development process. Look For Your Ballot This Week

Every registered voter in St. Lucie County will receive a postage paid mail-in ballot on or about April 3rd.  This is a very important referendum to raise teacher pay, keep a school resource officer on every campus, and enhance mental health services for our children. A Citizens Advisory Committee will have oversight to guarantee every dollar goes where it is intended. Please cast your ballot and make your voice heard. Return your ballot on or before April 23 in the postage-paid envelope.

Southport Middle School Students Receive a Healthy Treat and Nutritious Lesson

Southport’s cafeteria staff delivered a healthy treat to Mrs. Sharon Dudash’s students along with a nutritious lesson on how plants grow. After finishing up a project on seeds in their class, Cafeteria Manager Eileen Kielbasa presented a lesson on how plants grow using Florida grown vegetables from the Farm to School initiative. The students got to see the seeds inside the vegetables, and enjoyed a healthy snack later in the afternoon. Palm Pointe 4th Graders Write in their E”LAB”Oration Stations

On Friday, March 29th, Palm Pointe fourth graders participated in an exciting day of writing e”lab” oration stations.  Students had an opportunity to travel to different stations and refine their writing through various mini-lessons and practice.  They were thrilled to show what they know after working hard all year on the writing process.  Towards the end of the day, students got to participate in a balloon drop that included balloons with positive messages to let them know they can do it.  Students will take their FSA Writing Assessment on Tuesday, April 2nd.  

Mariposa Elementary Attends All County Chorus

In celebration of Music in Our Schools Month, Mr. Chad Guess took a group of Mariposa students to the All County Chorus which was held at Lincoln Park Academy.  Radley Yackamouih, Alexis Whyms, Karina Arocho, Nathalie Carrion, Szofi Viskolcz, and Celeste Swanson sang with students from other St. Lucie Public Schools during the annual All County Chorus event.

FPCHS Art Students Honored

FPCHS art students were honored by the 2019 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.  FPCHS student Noah Weston won an Honorable Mention for his Portfolio piece, Prize Chicken.  Student Justin Brunelle won the prestigious Gold Key Award from Scholastic for his photograph, Friend in the Dark.  Congrats to these two talented art students!

PSLHS Jaggernauts Compete in Robotics Competition

The PSLHS Jaggernauts ranked 48th out of 64 teams at the First Robotics Competition in West Palm Beach, including international teams. The students learned the value in collaboration, and they will keep building from it!  Prior to their arrival, their robot worked at 70% of its attainable project.  Combined with the selfless dedication of other teams, they assisted in getting the robot to 100% of the envisioned robot. Cheers to the future engineers of PSLHS!
