Samuel S. Gaines Academy sixth graders had the honor of listening to guest speaker Mr. Joe Smith, Clerk of the Circuit Court of St. Lucie County, as he shared his life story during a recent Speakers Bureau event.
Mr. Smith, a native of Fort Pierce and a product of the St. Lucie Public Schools, comes from immigrant grandparents who arrived in the United States in the early 1900s. He was raised by a family of educators who inspired him to follow their path in helping others. His career shifted in a similar direction of helping his community, and he became our very own Clerk of the Circuit Court of St. Lucie County.
