PSLHS Attends Florida State Raider Competition

On November 16, 2019 the Port St Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion Male and Female Raider teams competed at the state level at Boy Scout Camp Flaming Arrow in Lake Wales, FL. The teams went through physical and mental challenges and overcame a lot of different tasks to get through the competition.  Many of our teams persisted on even when they were past their breaking points. PSLHS Football Honor Guard

On November 1st, 2019, Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion cadets participated in a parking detail honor guard for our last home football game against the Centennial High School Eagles. They directed traffic to the appropriate parking lot, carrying out their task efficiently and effectively in one of our busiest games against our rival school.  The cadets ran this event smoothly and independently without additional administration. Southport Carnival

On October 31st, 2019, select cadets from our Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion Raider Team volunteered to support Southport’s quarterly PBS carnival. Ten cadets, who previously attended Southport, monitored bounce houses and obstacle courses while promoting the program to students considering JROTC the following year. Cadets featured in the pictures below are Cadet Private Robert Pollino, Cadet Sergeant First- Class Alexis Wilson, Cadet Private Catherine Caballero and Cadet Private Mery Fuentis. Port St. Lucie High School’s Homecoming Game against Okeechobee

Port St. Lucie High School Hosts Practice Raider Meet

  On Saturday October 5, 2019, the Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion hosted a practice Raider meet.  This meet is a warm-up for the upcoming Raider season.  The teams got the chance to work together efficiently and effectively while also seeing how well each teammate performed under pressure. The competition consisted of different physical and mental challenges. PSLHS Student, Joseph Locklar, Promoted to Eagle Scout

PSLHS’s Battalion Honor Guard Sergeant Major Locklar was recently promoted to an Eagle Scout with his Boy Scout Troop 499. Becoming an Eagle Scout is a major accomplishment that is recognized by the military.  Joseph can enter any branch of the military he desires as an Private First Class, which is two ranks higher then everyone else. He is actively involved with JROTC, Scouts of America, and his local church/ youth group. His ceremony will be held this November. Car Wash 9/28/19

Saturday, September 28, 2019, the Port Saint Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion conducted their first car wash of the year. Approximately 30 cadets from the program volunteered to wash cars from 8A.M. to 12P.M. Money raised at the carwash went towards the Raider team and miscellaneous JROTC activities/events. This was a fun event that brought the cadets out to the community and helped to teach the cadets the value of teamwork and communication. Overall the event had a great turnout and was full of positive energy throughout the day.

Career and College Fair Color Guard

On September 11, 2019, the Port Saint Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion conducted a color guard for the Career and College Fair held in the gym. The color guard was commanded by Cadet Major Alexis Morris while the state flag was held by Cadet Sargent First Class Alexis Wilson. Guarding the national flag was Cadet Sargent First Class Emmalyne Lewiston and guarding the state flag was Cadet Second Lieutenant Michael Schmitt. On Saturday May 23, 2019, Port St. Lucie High School JROTC Jaguar Battalion’s Color Guard Team presented the colors at the Fenn Center for the Class of 2019 Senior Graduation. Seniors were excited to graduate and start their lives outside of high school. During the color guard the Port St. Lucie High School Chorus sang the National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance. Companies Compete for Victory at 2019 Annual Field Day!

On Saturday May 4, 2019, Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion held its annual Field Day for the school year 2018- 2019. Each Company competed in several athletic events including: relay race, Jag Ball, soccer, capture the guide-on, kickball and dodge ball. Cadets were excited to show their skills against the other Companies in friendly team games. Everyone kept the games fair but competitive. On Saturday April 27, 2019, 45 cadets from the Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion traveled to Busch Gardens Tampa Bay on an end-of-the-year trip. Thanks to all the support and funds provided to the cadets over the past several months, we were able to enjoy a day trip to Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. On Wednesday, April 24, 2019, the Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion had its annual Change of Command ceremony to announce the incoming Battalion Commander and Command Sergeant Major for the school year 2019-2020. As our honored guest, Congressman Mast gave an inspirational speech to the nearly 200 cadets. PSLHS JROTC Participates in State Championship Drill Competition

On Saturday April 13, 2019, Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion’s drill team took 32 cadets to compete at the State Drill Meet at George W. Jenkins High School in Lakeland, Florida. The drill team competed in five regulation events: Female Armed and Unarmed Platoon, Male Unarmed and Armed Squad, and Male Unarmed Platoon. The Jaguar Battalion Drill team also competed in six exhibitions: Female Exhibition Squad and Platoon along with Male Exhibition Squad and Platoon. O’Reilly’s Auto Parts Supports PSLHS JROTC Fundraiser

On Saturday, March 30, 2019, Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion conducted a fundraiser in the parking lot of O’Reilly’s Auto Parts to raise money for the Regional Champion Drill Team. Cadets pre-sold tickets for several weeks prior to the fundraiser to help increase participation in the event. The 23 cadets who participated raised enough money to offset the cost of attending the State Drill Meet coming up on April 13, 2019. The cadets are now able to afford transportation to the State Championship Drill Meet in Lakeland, Florida!

PSLHS JROTC Participates in American Legion Match

On Wednesday March 28, 2019, Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion attended its 25th Annual Awards Ceremony. Guests from veteran associations collaborated with school staff and presented awards to deserving cadets. Cadets received awards for academic achievement, leadership qualities, and patriotism. Cadets were proud to receive recognition for their hard work. PSLHS Service Learning: Flag Retirement Ceremony

On Wednesday, February 27, 2019, the Port St. Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion participated in its annual Service Learning Project of retiring unserviceable American flags. Cadets collected worn, torn, and frayed flags donated from various public places to be properly retired. In the class periods leading to the event, cadets cut the flags by the stripes to prepare them for the ceremony. On Saturday, March 2, 2019, the Port St Lucie High School Army JROTC Jaguar Battalion’s Drill Team competed in its AREA 3 Regional Drill Meet at Jupiter High School. On Saturday February 16, 2019, Port St. Lucie High School Jaguar Battalion’s Marksmanship Team attended a competition held at Jupiter High School. The Jaguar Battalion’s “sharpshooters” competed against nine other Army JROTC programs in the area.
